Golden Cracks
Golden light leaks out of the broken clouds
I see it as I approach the top of the hill
It takes me back to the time when you said you were so broken, you didn't think anybody could ever love you
Well, I did
I loved every broken part of you
I got to see the parts of you that you so often hid away, waiting for someone to care enough to pry you open
And I did
Not all the way
But enough to realize you weren't this uncaring, heartless person I thought you were
You have a heart
Such a beautiful, loving heart that has felt such relentless heartache that you...

Fill You With My Words
Let me write poetry on your body
Feel my words across your skin
Run your fingers along the surface
and see where the ink as settled in
I have penned other works before you
and I tried, tried, tried, tried
But i guess the lease was up on their love
before my ink had time to dry
As I dip my quill in the ink well
On your canvas I draw, draw, draw
I will pick up where I left off
and on you
I will write the best love poem of all
Feel my words across your skin
Run your fingers along the surface
and see where the ink as settled in
I have penned other works before you

Black Coffee In The Morning
Wake up with black coffee in the morning
Take a sip as it burns your tongue
She rolls over and kisses your cheek
Slides her mocha hands down your chest
You like it black, no need for cream
Taste everything
She intertwines her toasted legs around your back as you give her more than a kiss
You have to get up, but not before you finish your coffee
Not before you drink her down
Take a sip as it burns your tongue
She rolls over and kisses your cheek
Slides her mocha hands down your chest
You like it black, no need for cream
Taste everything
She intertwines her toasted legs around your back as you give her more than a kiss
You have to get up, but not before you finish your coffee

Find The Sun
Where have you been my dear?
Where did you go?
Where have you been hiding your love, for it does not show
It no longer happily shines with the sounds of our laughter
It no longer sweetly glows to the tune of our song
What could I have done differently?
Where did I go wrong?
I'm sorry you feel like you're the broken one
One day we will find the sun
Where did you go?
Where have you been hiding your love, for it does not show
It no longer happily shines with the sounds of our laughter
It no longer sweetly glows to the tune of our song
What could I have done differently?
Where did I go wrong?
I'm sorry you feel like you're the broken one
One day we will find the sun

The Pain of Losing Is Worse Than Leaving
Whiskey on your breath as you climb into bed
I check the clock, 3:16 am is what it read
You kiss me goodnight and then you roll over
Now it's my turn to stay up all night, but I'm the one who's sober
Which makes it even worse since I remember everything
Like how you raise your voice, or your hand to my face when you get to drinking
But you're way too tired to start a fight this late
You probably fucked some slut in a dirty, one-stall bathroom who was barely older than jail-bait
How can you kiss me with that foul mouth of...

Beauty In Darkness
To enjoy the morning sunrise
we must endure the night sky
The dark brings the brightest stars
whose glory is often stolen by the sun
Everything has beauty
but not all can see it
So often we take shelter away from fading light
and learn to see artificially
If you would look beyond your fears
you would see the stars want to guide and light your way
We work by day and make love by night
We survive the heat of daylight
and restore our souls with the sweetest of dreams
Our hearts still beat, whether awake or asleep
I've given up my path to...

A Limited View
I limited the expression of love to three words and blinded myself to all the other ways you spoke it to me
I limited my patience and cheated myself of the beauty that comes with nurturing your trust
I limited my abilities and short-changed my strength needed to build our foundation
I limited my love and cut myself off from you

Tangible Love
Nourish me
Caress my soul
I have to feel your skin at 3 am
I need to touch my lips to yours and let our tongues entwine like braided rope
I run my hands across your landscape
I draw my fingers over the vastness of your back
You lay there, unmoving
The stillness of the moment sustains us
I tread my tips along the uneven terrain that is your hips and kiss my way back up into your arms
I close my eyes and dream of love like little children dream of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve
Eyes full of wonder
Tonight I believe
Caress my soul
I have to feel your skin at 3 am
I need to touch my lips to yours and let our tongues entwine like braided rope
I run my hands across your landscape

Regret
Calloused fingertips gently sweep skin and follow the path down to meet pale-pink, lacquered nails
Soft hands glide over hardened muscles, continuing on their downward descent
Musk permeates the tangled mess of porcelain-white sheets
Tongues taste dripping sweat
Mouths feel rising heat
Darkened hours are treasured as the daylight burns the sins away
As day turns to dusk, repentance comes down on two knees
Soft hands glide over hardened muscles, continuing on their downward descent
Musk permeates the tangled mess of porcelain-white sheets
Tongues taste dripping sweat
Mouths feel rising heat

As day turns to dusk, repentance comes down on two knees

Friend
Somewhere up there my life is pre-destined
And all of the people whose lives I will intertwine
Some will only stay for a season
But I know you'll stay for a lifetime
While I'm seeing what life has to offer
And you're busy being all you can be
Just promise we'll always meet in the middle
And save a seat for me
It's easy to turn friends into lovers
But when that fades, where do we go?
No matter what direction life takes us
I think we will always know
That I am your dear friend
And you are mine
And we may have gone back to the start...

A Decaying Idol
You hang there on your crucifix, Spitting words of venom
Foaming at the mouth, Your lungs hungry for souls
You hand out every fix, Spitting worlds and heavens
Your god stands idly by, An idol in a stained glass hole
You sell your religion through foolish words and hollow promises
Breaking the mold of innocence and what it means to truly believe
You sell your lies through hidden smiles and childish compromises
Breaking the hold of guilty silences and unblinking eyes that never see
Forcing your monument down their throats, Claiming you're...

Your Nails
Oh, how I knew you would change, Still I ran towards you
In the moments leading to my death, I demanded attention
As a child to a monster, I hid beneath the covers in silence
You spoke five words, And walked through the open door
This memory has been choking the me that wants to change
Holding me beneath the hell we created together
Your smile, Your lips, Your tongue, Your throat, Your breath
I’m addicted to the hole you left in my life
I saw the turn of your cheek, I saw the glimmer in your eye
Still I fell, Still I stumbled, Still I staggered...
