POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
When I put the pen to paper or the hands to keys - I feel as if I'm in a fever until all the thoughts make it out - only then I can breathe.
Over
Stay up with me til dawn
You can’t go home now
I leave we wave
We can’t stand this being apart thing
Is this where you
Call me up and say where have you been?
And
Why aren’t you here?
Tell me is the part where
I come o - o – o – over
Being apart won’t make it better
Tell me is the part when
Part when
You come o –o – o – over
Being alone won’t’ make it better
One of us should just
come o - o – o – over
Walk through my door
I see there are no lights on
I’m already missing you
My phones goes off, its ...

Castaway
Like a castaway in a sea of silence
I just can’t let anyone in, let anyone hear
In the distance I see blinking lights from ships
I know I should call out, raise a flag
But like a bullet from a gun, some things just can’t be undone
I turn and my breath escapes me, I cannot call out, not even once
My hands are frozen on the ropes, resonating with this fear
In the distance I see safe dry land but my heart, it rips
I know I should call out, but then the sails start to drag
But like an accidental overdose, things so far were once so close
This...

Girl of a Thousand
You eyes alone
Can drive me to, a thousand days
Those same eyes
That kept me here, beneath your gaze
For a thousand replays
Of all the fires we set ablaze
I feel lost again
When will it end, my driving blind
I just have to know, it is mutual
Because I never want to leave and I’m ready to run
Ready to drive; ready to fly, ready just to lose it all
And I’ll take the curve a little too fast, it’s a little too slick
You keep me driving, you keep me running
You keep me
You hands alone
Can take me to, a thousand worlds
Those...

Shh, Don't Worry
Hands in hands
Do you see these lines here
The ones that go this way and then that
They don’t mean a thing
All that matters is you
And me
Here
Now
Face to face
Do you see this worry here
The thoughts that go so far away before coming back
They are good, I’m glad you have hopes
But all that matters now is you
Next to me
Right here
Right now
Brick on brick
Do you see it’s overcrowded in there
The people you see daily always smiling and waving
They are just shadows, darkened by your bright shine
Because all...

Hold Me Close
Hold me.
Hold me close, tell me what you need and
I’ll take control
If what you want is to run with me
If what you want is to follow me
If what you want is to be there in the middle of the night
So I feel your body
And all the reasons you want to stay
Hold me.
Hold me close, I won’t let go, whisper what I need and
I’ll hold your face next to mine
If what you want is to pray for me
If what you want is to sing to me
If what you want is to be so close in the daylight
So our hands interlock
And all the reasons I want to stay are known...

Stay Awake
Your cheek is softly touching mine
Your hands reach over to my side
Your breath pushing my hair back
Pushing back all those thoughts of being alone
Pulling forward my music to mix with yours
Touching your soul with mine
Our hands colliding in the rain
Your arms around me moving slow again
Please don’t forget my name when the clock strikes 8
Please don’t look away when I leave this state
Your hair is tangling with mine
Your feet shift so mine fit in between
Your voice pushing warm whispers into my brain
Pushing my heart beat into...

YELL
The music in my head is what keeps me moving keeps me going
Away from that city where things got cold an dirty
You know only you could look at the way you do
With your eyes you turn my insides black and blue
Let me out just let me out
I hear you yell those things or see you pull my strings
I’m thinking that you want to get tough and play rough
But I’m just gonna get my things and go
Because
It’s just noise – or no noise
That draws you in – even when you can’t see me its automatic
You want to keep me on repeat and keep my cryin’

Ann Elizabeth
But you’re still calling
And I’m not answering
Now I have to turn away from the pain you throw at me
Now that we’ve both just fell apart
And have un-mended hearts
Oh Ann Elizabeth, when you call I’m torn apart
There is so much anger in your voice
I turn my head sideways and try to find the part that used to carry me home
Home to you
So then you stopped calling
And I don’t have to worry about answering
Now I wonder how much of me is left after collecting your arrows
Now that we’ve both started walking away
And left so many bruises...

She Took My Courage
We watched our streets turn from stone to blood
We watched our friends turn from love to fear
The skies they blackened with long nights of endless screaming
The trees they crept around in the background beckoning
Take my hand and take it now
The conversation has to disappear
Let the words remain just thoughts in your head
As we run from the damages and wreckage of our lives
Light and sound and don’t forget sight
All but dismiss the ricochet around our truth
We watched our streets turn from stone to blood
We watched our friends turn from...

Because of His Name
We walked past it everyday
Never looking twice
We would be laughing, talking, counting our steps
My brother and I
There was always music playing
Didn’t really think about it
We would be holding hands, whispering secrets
My brother and I
I think now about the treasures we’d find
Stuffed in pockets
We would have our hands full of things
My brother and I
One day we’d walk past it one last time
Not allowed to look back
We would be crying, whimpering, counting our steps
My brother and I
There would be no music...
Never looking twice
We would be laughing, talking, counting our steps
My brother and I
There was always music playing

Your journey has been long but full of hope
Even when the darkness carried shards of fire
Setting your world ablaze as you run through
All the ways you know how to cope
White ricochets as you fall to your knees
But all that I’m saying is lift your head high
There is a sort of haunting melody
That comes with the way you see things
Don’t you know you’ll never be alone though
Don’t you know you can find a way home
You’ve only tried to do what’s right
When all you could see was the silent screams
Searing into your skull as you hide in...
Even when the darkness carried shards of fire
Setting your world ablaze as you run through

The Separation
I’ll take a long walk
Down the cold concrete alleys
Passing a few spray painted images
Semi permanent
I’ll reach out to touch them
Palm flat on the white stone
Trembling from fast dip in temperature
Lingering snowflakes
I’ll know better tomorrow
After I wake up from
Running in my dreams, but never fast enough
Fleeting
I’ll wander through these corridors
Up and down stained walls
Breathing what I don’t recognize
Stagnant air
I’ll lean out of the window
Up high wishing I was far far away
Looking out over the rooftops...
Down the cold concrete alleys
Passing a few spray painted images
Semi permanent
I’ll reach out to touch them
Palm flat on the white stone
Trembling from fast dip in temperature
Lingering snowflakes
I’ll know better tomorrow
After I wake up from
