Let Downs
Go ahead get your spirits up
All the way to the sky
Let them soar so far up
You feel as if you can fly
Then give them a rock
And let them drop
All the way to the ground
THAT is what you’ve done to me
Not just once, but four times
And always “It’s my parents’ faults” is your plea
If only I had a nickel for every time I heard that line
Every time it never fails
Something mysteriously happens
And “our” plans are blown all to hell
It’s the worst bad luck one could fathom
But its starting to get old
And my “cute” little seams are...
All the way to the sky

The Blind Date
Waiting. Nerves.
That's all this is
You, I
There is no "and"
Stomach Tightening
Mind running
Through different scenarios
Of what is to come
Will there be attraction?
Or need for a distraction?
What about talking?
We hardly know each other.
Will there be that awkward silence?
Maybe to the point of resilient?
I wait...
And wait...
And wait...
Text you a couple of times
But I already know what has happened
I've been stood up...
That's all this is
You, I

Hurtful Pretend
What does the future hold?
That’s something best not thought of and left untold
I guess I should be happy for you
Even though I know that feeling is untrue
I know what has been happening is just pretend
Though I guess I was just hoping it would never end
It sickens me that I have yet to come to terms with the fact that you ARE gay
And unfortunately my feelings have stayed because of this twisted game we have played
Still there is nothing that you can do
Except feel sorry for the friend that is helping protect you
Though now you’ve found someone you...

A Good Performance ( A Little Something I Learned In Drama Class)
A good performance
Always lacks conformance
It sometimes breaks convention
Without any capitulation
While remembering the need to consider the audience.
Wait! ... are they also part of the performance?
A good performance can’t be set in a frame
If you did the performance would be maimed
A good performance is something best left to boggle the mind
Instead of feeling the necessity to fill in every detailed line.

Tired
I’m so tired.
I’m tired of the name calling.
“hey slut.” “what’s up freak?”
I’m tired of the abuse.
The kicking and pinching and tripping.
I’m tired of getting ignored.
Everyone passes me by.
I’m tired of it all!
Now with my father’s gun
I think I’ll repay them for all that they’ve done
Today is the first day of school
And I feel like repaying my debts to the kids that are “cool”
I decide to crash the back to school dance
Nobody even had a chance.
There goes the quarterback and his girlfriend, the head cheerleader.
Pow! Pow! ...

What If
You told me many things.
So charming and so sweet.
I swear it made my spirit sing
And made my heart pick up a faster beat.
Then recently you disowned me.
You told me that you’d make sure no one found out about us
All to keep me free.
You said the relationship ending was a must
For you no longer felt innocuous
To the point of intoxication.
You said some things very notorious
As they were better kept in the past, no resurrection.
You made me hate myself
Just like your cousin had, the miserable little welt.
Then I started questioning,...

Always willing to listen
And ready to empower

Give Me A Chance
If you were to give me a chance
I’d be the first one to say, “Let’s dance.”
Still you see me as nothing worth your delicate charms
The only thing I think is if you met her how she would alarm
You think you’ve got me figured out,
But you really don’t
And if you think that you can figure her out,
Give up because you won’t.
You think that I’m too fragile
For your “fun and games”
But with her I’m plenty of agile
And good at taking the reins.
Bondage, Sadomasochism, and dominance
Let’s just say that’s she’s more adventurous
Than...

Try to reason without you
Though I don’t know how
To get along without you
You’re the voice inside my head
Without you I feel half-way dead
And now I’m trying to get through
This world without you
You’re the one thing that always brought me up when I was down
And always made me smile, even when I wanted to frown
You’ve helped me out in a number of ways
I’ve always thought I’d be with you until the end of our days
But now you’re playing the bitch and decide to just leave
And leaving me here feeling like a total dweeb.
