Why Is a Writing Desk

they scream you know these spiders
trapped behind alcoves
scrabbling about the old webs
spun by narrators of old tales

O nudge nudge wink wink
what they do at the porch
exchanging venoms from forked tongues
and the hatter's mad

how creepy the King's story
weird she says in the long run
Needful things and making the stand
its only the dark half

The raven at the writing desk
who are you he asks
I am one with many hats
she says, exchanging one for the other

a pointy hat, a bowler hat
a fedora and a top hat
a knaves jingly colorful ones
a wide one with gauzy trims

A whole heap of them
on the writing desk

the spiders webs and howls
of midnight ghouls
lover's dance murder's stance
tales of then, now and tomorrows

They gibber and mutter
cackle and murmur
under these hats
wear them she's dared

Everyday.

~~~Hats~~~
Closest thing to a
'Shell' Protective
Hiding from the 'Hell'
i've
been subjected
Covers the
long sinful nights
Almost brings me
back to life..
Take away the
long hot days
carries me
through a toxic phase
and it's just a Hat
to you ..
To me..
when i lose touch with reality
it snaps me back..
I have no idea how i got this from the visual of a hat but that is what came out. and your worthy of working my insanity .
To cap, or not to cap: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler to go bare headed
Letting the wind blow though my hair for vanity's sake,
Or to protect those precious strands of beauty,
By hiding them under a hat, hidden from the world?
For what hat is more lustrous than my fro?
What bonnet has the power to turn the girl’s heads like my locks?
Covering my head would be like hiding a light under a rock
No, I refuse to be corked like a bottle
So here me declaration, “A hat I shall not wear!”
For my lion's main must flow free in the breeze
Never to be hidden that others might not see
That is, in case, by chance, I start to go bald
Then the idea of wearing a hat, might not seem so bad
After all!
To tell the truth
It was the top hats that did it
The milliners never needed to worry
It wasn't part of their life
But top hats had to be black
That was the fashion
So the black fingered
Hat makers
Wallowed in the mercury
Compound that made those
Black top hats so black
Breathed it in
Absorbed it through their skin
Drank it with their tea and coffee
Mercury can do terrible things to the mind
Then people started to notice
They would say things like
"He's as mad as a hatter"
And so the hatters were the unsung
Oft scorned heroes of the sartorial community
