apocalypse smile
she doesn't mind when the gummie bears are all alone yellow
but will never eat a green freezy pop
we've all heard the rumors
she skipped the third grade
and calculated the gravity for a non planet
loves her mother
but knows shes' off axis
tells me i'm wise
loves my
speghettio surprise
it's only time
before she starts dating a gearhead guitar player
so i pull my black socks up
wedge my missing toe foot in the sandal
real easy
button the hawaiian shirt to mask the stain on the wife beater
teach the dog to take natty ice empties to the shed
hanna montana sheets to miley cyrus blankets
man i hope that tongue is on nothin but snatch
load the shotgun
do some pushups
take my divalprolex
promised i wouldn't ruin her first date
but he better not show up in a van
liquid is always heavier than matter
but lately the absence of
weighs a ton
i'm a little vertically challenged
but her on my shoulders
had my head in the clouds
my collar was itchin anyway
fuck you wanna be justin bieber
lookin like a white usher with freckles

brother ripped his eyes
now teddy is blind

for spelling everything right
he gives her chocolate ice cream
daddy's hugs and kisses
as she graduates in high school
excited, she takes photos with mom
dear daddy her photographer
daddy's smiling proud face
among the sea of faces
as she graduates from college
he smiles through his tears
daddy is holding her hands
saying you will be fine
daddy's always here for you
as he gives her away to her love
today he smiles at her
from the hospital bed
'baby I wish I can stay
but I have to go away'
'maybe to heavens I can't say
but I am so tired now
I cannot keep awake
sorry baby but its goodbye'
its the middle of the night
daddy has just gone away
his smiles he leaves
ingrained in her heart
her daddy who held her
when she had nightmares
her daddy who didn't mind
when she wet his shoulders
her daddy, an angel now.
