Poetry Contest

How would the world be different if events of the past had taken a different turn?
Here's how this one works:  if you want to enter, post that you do, then I'll draw from my stash of historical happenings, and give you an event from the past to write about.  Write a poem or prose, any style, length, no collabs about your event, but give it a different ending of your own choosing, than the one that actually happened in history.  Sort of a butterfly-effect, if you changed the course of history, what do you think the ultimate outcome would be today?  How would the present times be different than what they actually are, if at all?  

2 weeks, have fun!  As many entries as you want.
