Abandoned Amusement Park
Reliving
A collage of voices haunts the rusted carcasses of ferris wheels and carousels,
Hundreds of faces are plastered to their bodies, their bodies only translucent ghosts of their former selves,
A collage of laughter and shrills fills the air of this barren hell,
Hundreds of voices once made those laughs that sounded so swell.
The voices grow louder, toying with my mind,
An almost empty prize shelf holds a lone intruder with large black eyes,
The stare of the stuffed clown tells me I'm not alone this time.
An almost haunting hum adds to the commotion as a vending machine turns on, or at least it tries.
The voices grow ever louder and suddenly I'm not alone anymore.
A security guard asks what's in my pocket as I relive that fateful day.
The scene's all too real as I pull out the silencer equipped gun that ended my war.
A laugh turns into a scream and I throw the last grenade.
The park has been closed ever since,
But now it coes back to me to take its revenge.

Thanks to all who entered! This one was a tough call, but I went for Jasper's since it seemed to convey the best abandoned, cast off and lonely feel . Strider and EngrVV-- nice twists in your poems and great job overall for everyone !
