Poetry Contest

If you havent seen this movie, "Trapped in a Purple Haze" is about a guy that meets a girl, and drugs take over his life.
Write a new poem (limit 2 per person, one can be old) about such a situation.
Drugs taking over, whether recovery is in the end, is your decision. Have fun, be creative!

If it does not have to be new I have this one in my list...if it does have to be new just ignore my post...

His Addiction

I watch him as he is lurking
Trying so hard just to disguise
The truth that lay before him
But I can see it in his eyes

He had to get what he wanted
He just could not stay away
He turned his back on family
And returned to "them" today

Another promise broken
Another lie to hide
Another piece of my heart missing
Another part of me just died

He finally decided
No daughter, nor a wife
Can give him what he wants or needs
In his pathetic life

Don't think, though, that he is single
He has three loves to hide his pain
To him they're all so perfect
They are Crack, Heroin and Cocaine

He gets his last pay check
Again he failed the test
Clean for so long
Untill it all went wrong
I got back with her and lost all hope
I do all i can to try and cope
She's the drug and im the druggie
She makes me eat all the pills i get
Pay checck after paycheck gets flushed away
Now im up to 20 pills a day
Empty bottles of pills and beers
Wanting to get to his beloved dear
But he knows she's past away so hel slowly kills him self by parting everyday

Potty talk

I sit on the potty and think
I don’t drink anymore
Since I hit the floor
Running to this place
I fill the time and space
From beginning to end
And then start all over again

I circle and glide
Around and through
Expecting nothing to be true
Except the cycle of the moon
The rise and fall of the sun
The gun in the hand of the child

What has become of despair
Along with the howl of the wind
Sometimes I wonder when it will all end

My Choice

Alcohol, vodka, rum
to erase the pain give me some.
pour it pour it, drink it all
wanting more as I fall.
Drink it all till it burns
make my stomach squirm and turn.
Puking stops, I then sleep tight
looks like I'll see another night.
Alcohol was my choice
it's all done to erase your voice.

Pot, weed pack me some
so much better then the rum.
Smoke it all, get me high
forget the past, I start to fly.
Spinning spinning world goes round
now I'm tripping, hit the ground.
And now of course I'm back to blue
my mind has wondered back to you.
Weed was my choice
it's all done to erase your voice.

Crack rock get me by
so much better then being high.
Crush it up, snort it down
feel my head pound and pound.
Getting sick, not eating much
I know now it was just a crush.
All my money smoked away
I guess for now I'm here to stay.
Crack was my choice
it's all done to erase your voice.

Alcohol, crack, weed
forget it all give me speed.
My racing heart is going faster
speeding speeding till disaster.
Breathing hard can't catch my breath
finally there's no love left.
Heart stops no more life
I told you I didn't need the knife.
Speed is my weapon of choice
and finally I've erased your voice.
