Silent Quest

Am I crazy for loving you my Adelaide?
You are smart and lovely, elegant and compassionate;
you were the girl of my dreams, and never been forgotten.
I beseech you to look at the bright side,
and never to forget why we love each other so.

Here I am my love, hearken to my plea--
I love you then and now, but your heart can’t see.
My childhood glances as I caught your sweet smile,
revealed more than what I could say.
Every time I smiled you knew, there was something more.

We parted ways with feelings locked within our young hearts...
There were nights when you silently screamed my name
and I bit my lips as you came into my dreams;
the silhouette of a girl appeared with long flowing hair
walking slowly down the beach as if floating on air.

Then one day you showed up in the flesh;
our bodies were fusioned by our tight embrace,
as we felt the burning sensations through our lips.
Your undying love, hope never to give up
and the power of love brought us back together.

     QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT

I know your curves.
I know your face.
I know your heart.
Not your embrace.

I've longed for comfort
as warm as yours.
I'll never have,
what I don't deserve.

My silent stares.
My desperate eyes.
I hide the hurt.
When you're with those guys.

I've watched you sleep.
until the sun.
Before you wake.
I'm always gone.

Should I give in?
My love explain?
Then I saw the ring.
I was too late.

The Torchbearer.

I'm done carrying this torch.
I'd rather live in the dark.
Oh, how a fire can grow
from such a tiny spark.

I'm done pedestaling you.
I'm so tired of feeling small.
I'm done watching for the signs
and waiting for the call.

I'm done doodling love hearts
at the center both our names.
As I set the torch down
my dream goes up in flames.

Oh, I know it's going to burn.
but then I can begin to heal.
Instead of hoping against hope
I will wait for something real.

All that wasted energy
throughout all these years.
If only the flame had died
beneath all my lonesome tears.

A final goodbye in my mind's eye.
I can almost feel your breath.
The flame flickers and grasps at life before it meets it's death.

I had so much faith
that I left no room for doubt.
Perhaps it was never my choice
but burnt itself right out.
