I can’t believe
I trashed our friendship with my pen
Can you believe

How could I not know
You would be hurt, so shaken
How can I show

What now can I do
To hear you say, “You’re Forgiven”?
I’m such a fool

Days of daze meld into numbness
as you excel in your work.
None have a clue as
beyond your enticing smile
I see the pain buried
beneath layers of insulation
People see your beauty
and it is entrancing.
I see the tortured girl
living life as an
orchestrated dance of steps
to escape memories
of wicked's grimy grasp
The hair comes down
as you leave the work lot
spackling your soul holes
with a 6 pack
Before the night ends
a half bottle of something hard
camouflages the unhealed hurt
of a childhood painted in abuse
I am sorry,
unable to spark a change of view
as you looked at yourself
seeing through a mirror of lies
I left with an evaporating hope
that you would find peace
34 is far too young
to succumb to an end of breath
I am sorry
my effort was not enough
as the death of soul
your childhood suffered
now strikes your body
with an end of days

You can't see my beating heart but it's breaking for you,
I thought that you loved me but I see that's not true.
I love you, I'm sorry, and what can I say,
I never meant to hurt you the way I did today.
Hurt me? ha, what would you know?
how can you feel anything when you've lied to me so.
I know I've done wrong, I know it wasn't right,
I'm asking for forgiveness for what I did last night.
I certainly can forgive you, but the damage has been done,
Your love is a lie, so go and have your fun.
